Multiple Teams · Varsity Softball Opens Sunrise Mountain Tournament with 6-2 win over Greenway


The varsity softball team beat Greenway High School 6-2 in the first game of pool play at the Sunrise Mountain Tournament played at Pioneer Park.

Giselle Juarez pitched a complete game for her first win of the season, striking out 12 Greenway hitters.

The offense had to overcome a shaky defensive effort by Ridge in their first game of the season as the girls committed 6 defensive errors.

Jailene Carpio had 4 RBI’s and Payton Alsobrooks added a single and a double to pace the offense.

Ridge takes on Prescott and Desert Edge in day 2 of pool play. Saturday begins a single elimination bracket tournament. First game on Saturday begins at 10 am, but Ridge won’t know it’s seed until after pool play ends Friday night.
